Full/Interim

A motor vehicle is a complex technical structure and requires regular maintenance, so that safety and value remain as long as possible.

A car that is not inspected at certain intervals and expertly maintained cannot be driven safely and will almost definitely result in an untimely breakdown.

If you have purchased your vehicle from new, the manufacturer’s warranty may be affected if the car has not been serviced at the correct intervals.

How often is a Service required?

When a new vehicle is purchased, the vehicle manufacturers will recommend the inspection intervals. This can depend on factors such as vehicle type, vehicle model, engine size, age, and mileage.

Full details of when your next Service is due can be found in your vehicle service book. With modern vehicles an electronic display (on-board computer) will also be an indicator of when a service is due.

It is recommended that a vehicle should have a full service every 12,000 miles or every 12 months, and an interim service every 6,000 miles or every 6 months.

What are the benefits of regular servicing?

  • A vehicle that has not missed a service and whose services are documented in the service booklet is generally more saleable.
  • A service will identify areas of wear on your vehicles key components.
  • During regular inspection work is carried out that would have been necessary anyway, for example the oil change or filter change, which will help improve the overall efficiency of the vehicle.
  • An Interim Service is ideal for motorists who regularly drive a large amount of miles and want to keep their vehicle running at its best between full services.
