The Ministry of Transport (MOT) is essential to maintaining roadworthiness in the UK. It was first introduced in 1960 and is now integral to maintaining and running a car in the UK. If caught, you will be prohibited from leaving the testing centre. If caught, you could face a fine, three penalty points on your license, and possibly even a driving ban. Is there a car that doesn’t need an MOT? 

A few cars don’t require getting an MOT to drive legally. This includes goods vehicles registered before March 1, 2015, and classic cars built or registered more than 40 years ago.

• Warning light: If your dashboard has illuminated warning lights, it is unlikely that your car will pass its MOT. 
• Tread and tyre condition: The minimum tread is 1.6mm.
